MIL-I-18464G, MILITARY SPECIFICATION: INSIGNIA AND MARKINGS FOR NAVAL WEAPONS SYSTEMS (27 OCT 1971) [S/S BY MIL-STD-2161]., This specification establishes the requirements for the insignia and markings to be applied to the exterior surfaces of all heavier-than-air Naval and Marine Corps weapons systems, as well as those procured for other government agencies and foreign countries under Navy contracts, in accordance with the directives of the Chief of Naval Operations.
